Wyoming Immigrant Advocacy Project

The Wyoming Immigrant Advocacy Project (WIAP) provides free legal services to immigrants who can't otherwise afford help with their cases. When they approached us about a video project to help with fundraising efforts, we knew that visual storytelling could be a powerful complement to the litany of written materials, facts, and statistics that they had already mustered to support their efforts. By concisely documenting the lives of real WIAP clients, we were able to tell a powerful, relatable, sharable story that helped the organization raise hundreds of thousands of dollars.

DonorsChoose.org

DonorsChoose.org is a non-profit that connects public school teachers in need with people (i.e. donors) interested in helping. Teachers post classroom projects on the website -- these could be materials they need for something they want to teach, a plan for a field trip -- and donors browse through them and choose the ones they want to fund. The company has funneled hundreds of millions of dollars into public school classrooms. Video is critical to their efforts.

Access to great books is more limited than many realize, and DonorsChoose.org gets millions of books into the hands of children each year. Seeing these third graders' enthusiasm for the books they're reading is a powerful reminder of the importance of this mission.

To acknowledge the teachers who make good days at school possible, DonorsChoose.org launched a campaign celebrating "unsung teacher heroes." We shot and edited this profile about one such teacher in New York City to show just how meaningful great teachers can be to their students, especially those in more disadvantaged areas.
It remains the most-viewed video on their YouTube channel.

Major gifts from generous supporters merit special recognition. When a philanthropist decided to fully fund every DonorsChoose.org classroom project in the Bronx, we filmed CEO Charles Best practicing his delivery of the surprise news to a group of unsuspecting Bronx teachers. This made for a more fun, informal video, and being able to show the impact of her donation encouraged similarly massive "flash funding" of classroom projects by other celebrities and corporations around the country.
